I'm pretty happy TeeFury has finally decided to print something that I actually want to buy! Growing up in my generation means you know very well who the Ninja Turtles are, in fact...I bet you were one for halloween one year. Leonardo was always my man. This shirt uses a unique technique to make it stand out more than other Ninja Turtle-esque shirts designed by others. I really like it.

Teextile Shipping Update
Today, I received my "Starving for a Hug" tee from teextile. They seem to get shirts to you in about a month. There are TONS of alert boxes all over their website about shipping and how long it could potentially take for you to get your shirt(s) now. Anyway, the shirt rules...it's a really awesome color...I only have one other shirt remotely close to the color of this tee and it looks awesome! I can't wait to sport this one at work =)
There is a Threadless "heatwave" sale now (a lot of tees are just $5!), but none of the shirts I wanted from last week are on sale...I may wait even longer to pick these up...
That's it for now...only one sport today, but two tomorrow. I can't wait to play hockey again!

I'm Sorry / Tickle Pickle / Do the Robot!
Sorry for the lack of updates this week, as it has been an awesome week for shirts! I am currently in Toronto for a hockey tournament and it's awesome here. I got to see the Stanley Cup yesterday and a bunch of old school hockey paraphernalia. I'll be here until Monday and I hope no one else asks me if I want "gravy on my fries" or "cheese on my toast". All three of these were woot purchases; from Tuesday, Wednesday, and today (Saturday)!
Shirt #1 for this week: "I'm Sorry" from Tuesday's shirt.woot:

This shirt rules for various reasons. The main reason being this photo that was taken between my freshman and sophomore years of college when I escorted a friend of mine around Philadelphia:
Shirt #2 for this week: "Tickle Pickle" from Wednesday's shirt.woot:
It took me all day to figure out if I wanted this one (mostly because of the Lemon Yellow tee), but after I realized that I smiled every time I looked at it, I got it. Totally cute...and...I totally love pickles. The bird on top is super cute, too. Rock and Roll. Two Woot! purchases in a row!
Shirt #3 for this week: "Do the Robot!" from today's shirt.woot (Saturday):

These guys look like the dudes from DEVO, which is hilarious. This design won 2nd place in Woot's "Dance" derby and I love the crap out of it.
There were a couple Threadless shirts I wanted to get this week, but I may hold off until they have a sale...I'm not exactly a fan of paying $18 for a t-shirt...we'll see.

Love is Simple
So, after deciding to buy pretty much every Akron/Family album on vinyl from their online store in honor of the release of their 4th full length album "Set 'em Wild, Set 'em Free" today, I snagged a sweet tee as well. I was mostly stoked that they stocked xs American Apparel shirts...and these are those super soft tri-blend track shirts (50/50 mmmmm).
Also note: it's not gray...if you know me, gray is a problematic color when a) it's summer or b) I'm drinking. Sweet. They're playing a show tonight in Cambridge...and in about 30 minutes they're doing a "special acoustic set" at Newbury Comics at the Newbury street location downtown. Buy the new album! It sounds awesome :)

Starving for a Hug!
I'm starving for some lunch right now...but will hold on that for a much needed update. Nothing last week in the t-shirt department tickled my fancy, but this week seems to be starting out just fine with this cute tee from teextile.
Other than the ridiculous amount of time it takes for one to receive a tee from teextile (which they so conveniently decided to explain when you check out now...kudos!) I have no other issues with this place. And here's a plus: if you vote for the design, they ship it to you free! I actually voted for this one a while back, so I get to save a couple dollars on the shipment....awesome. Not too shabby for a Monday...especially since I'm suffering from some sort of allergy / cold combination. ROCK AND ROLL.

Robotz R hUmann!
Uh, so I forgot I even bought this (due to my busy weekend?) totally awesome woot! shirt. It goes along with the robot "theme" in my last post, haha. NICE>

domo arigato mr roboto
The teextile tee yesterday was cute. I picked it up...the thing that did it for me was the stars...and the fact that I didn't really like any of the other tees on teextile this week. It's called "Flying Robot". Raaawrrrr.
I'll give an update on the whole shipping fiasco with teextile. Saturday, I received the "To the Stars" tee...still no sign of "Cranberry Tree", though. Actually...while looking at this tracking information, I realized they emailed me two shipping notifications for the two "To the Stars" shirts I ordered. I ordered the shirts on Monday, March 23rd...teextile shipped them on Monday, April 13th...and I received them on Saturday, April 18th. Business day turn around = 19 days. At least shipping across the country didn't take too long....but I'm still waiting for the shipping information on the Cranberry Tree tee...by these calculations, I should receive notification of shipment for that on April 29th, haha.
That's all for now....the Woot shirt today was pretty cool but I don't really want to buy it.

Cranberry Trees and Shipping
So, this was purchased over a week ago and I'm just getting around to posting it on here. The placement of this design is what sold it for me. It's the Wednesday, April 8th design on teextile entitled "Cranberry Tree":
It seems like a metal band should use this for their shirts, haha.
Okay. Now...a little about shipping here. I purchased another shirt from teextile on March 23rd (see this post) and heard nothing from their shipping headquarters on the status of shipment. Five days after purchasing the Cranberry Tree design here, I received shipment notifications for BOTH shirts. That's a good 21 days after I ordered the "To the Stars" shirt. After reading community forums on teextile.com, I understand that they only print as many as ordered and obviously cannot print them until the end of the week, when all sales are over. That still doesn't justify shipping something out to me three weeks after I ordered it. Also note: that both shipments still only say that "electronic shipping information has been reveived" so god knows if they actually left their shipping facility. They are also on the completely opposite side of the country to make matters worse. Not sure if I'll ever see these shirts, honestly.
With Woot shirts, I generally don't expect to get them quickly, but they are always dilligent with the shipment notification emails and have even shipped another shirt to me (that was a Christmas gift for my brother) overnight when I told them I didn't receive it yet and it had been a month (I also sent them the totally crazy tracking information which sent it from Texas to New Jersey then back to Texas and eventually where it should have gone....a week after I got the replacement). TeeFury's a little on the slow side as well...but you pay $2 for that and at least they let you know when it ships. I'm kind of disappointed in this whole teextile shipment procedure. Not cool. I'll let everyone know when I finally get these shirts!

Music and Unicorns!
I meant to post this yesterday, but found myself desperately trying to find a doctor to cure my 2-week long sickness (that is a vicious sinus infection now). Unfortunately, in Boston...that's impossible. I ended up getting it taken care of, but it was quite the pain in the ass.
Anyway, I was pretty excited to see what would come out of shirt.woot's "Music" derby, as music pretty much is my life. The first place winner was a gorgeous shirt. The other two winners...not really my style...but pretty cool, none-the-less. What made me exceptionally angry about this one, however, is that I was up pretty early to go to work by 8. I knew I wanted it, but didn't have a chance to look at the site again until 10am. SOLD OUT. Balls. This is one I needed to spend the 15 bones on, though...so I picked it up yesterday.

BRAINZZZ!!!
So. I'm 25 now...how 'bout that! This weekend was packed full of exciting things...including a trip to Philadelphia to see the Bruins kick some major Flyers ass. It was an exciting game...and honestly...I was torn on which jersey to wear...but ended up picking the right one ;) We even made it on TV back in Boston. Check out a screen shot from NESN:
Anyway...I know you only care about t-shirts so here we go. I picked this one up yesterday from TeeFury. Zombies are totally hip...and so are these Obama campaign looking pictures. What an awesome combination.

To the Stars!
Teextile is a relatively new t-shirt company. They feature 5 designs a week (one a week day) based on your votes. I regret not buying an awesome one last Monday, but have sort of made up for it with today's t-shirt.
Rock. Today is my last full day in Austin, TX and I plan on getting a haircut at a punk rock barbershop on E. 6th street. We'll see how well they can butcher my hair into something more manageable and awesome.

Flatstock 2009
So, these are obviously not t-shirts, but wicked sweet none-the-less. I picked up some awesome posters at Flatstock this year:

Spring Cleaning - Threadless Style
Threadless is having a "spring cleaning" sale, letting you get a whole bunch of tees for either $5 or $10. Here's what I picked up from them today:
"Of the Dead" by Justin White
"There's No Crying in Breakfast" by Philip Tseng
"Sprint Finish" by Little Friends of Printmaking
"Playin' in the Sprinkler" by Jason Bergsieker

Good stuff! Also: I have like absolutely no time to write this entry because I still need to make my schedule for SXSW. I also totally need to get a haircut today and I'm not sure if that's going to happen because I have hockey tonight and need to be ready to go by 8:15pm. AWESOME.
Maybe I'll pick up some quality tees in Texas.
Until then,
Brooke

More unicorns and ridiculousness in MA
Thursday must be t-shirt day, as I have found some other awesome shirts to procure today. Without even having to peruse the Cotton Factory website to find this amazing unicorn shirt, I instantly added it to my cart. It's even ON SALE (add $3.00 if you're a lady, though...ugh)!
I remembered that there was another shirt on this site I was looking at a while ago, but never purchased because I didn't want to pay $8.50 for the shipment of one shirt.
I remembered that there was another shirt on this site I was looking at a while ago, but never purchased because I didn't want to pay $8.50 for the shipment of one shirt.
After living in Massachusetts for almost 3 years now, I now fully understand the absolute ridiculousness of the names and pronunciations of towns. This lake is actually really close to where my BFF from work grew up and she says the name flawlessly. I make her say it at least once a day now. Anyway...this lake is totally real:
I'm pretty happy with these purchases...especially the magical beast one! Also, Cotton Factory is having a sale until March 9th celebrating Daylight Savings Time. They're offering 10% off your order if you use promotional code "snooze". It's not much, but if you're planning on buying a tee or two anyway, go for it.
GRRRRR.
Today's design win goes to TeeFury.com. There was something that made my eyes sparkle the first time I looked at this tee. This isn't a typical "Brooke" shirt...but for some reason...I love it to pieces. From what I understand, this fine gem of a shirt was designed and drawn entirely on a tablet in black & white and color was added for the final shirt design. It's gorgeous. I cannot wait to sport this when it finally gets to me.
The other thing that makes me want to make out with TeeFury is the fact that their shirts are 100% affordable and shipping is totally cheap. The shirts end up costing a total of $11 for FedEx SmartPost shipping (which takes kind of a long time...oh well) or you could splurge and spend $17 for probably faster, trackable shipping. I don't think it's worth it to spend almost as much on shipping as you do for the shirt, haha.

LOST
I don't generally watch television. I, however, love the shit out of LOST. It's more than an awesome show...there's SCIENCE in it. From the beginning of that show I've had all sorts of electromagnetism and quantum mechanics theories that explained all the ridiculous things that happen on the island. Anyway, I found a LOST shirt I need:
Desmond is my favorite character in the whole world. His accent is stunning and his relationship with Penny makes my eyes water. Seriously. I generally am not the biggest fan of Busted Tees, but this one got me (especially since it's "on sale" for $17). Am I really the only one who doesn't like paying more than 15 bones for a screen-printed t-shirt!? Especially one that isn't actually art...

Unicorns.
If you know me well enough...you know I have a ridiculous obsession with unicorns. This not only includes the plan to build and decorate a "unicorn themed" bicycle, but quite the collection of unicorn t-shirts. I really wish I started compiling this earlier. Anyway...here's a unicorn shirt from 410BC that's pretty rad.
Rock-em Sock-em Robots, anyone?
So, I got this amazing t-shirt on shit.woot.com yesterday:
It reminds me a lot of probably my favorite Threadless design of 2008 (yes, I voted for it in the 2008 Bestees awards) by Paul Burgess.
After purchasing a new piece of furniture because I have run out of room in my drawers for t-shirts, it feels like I'm more inclined to buy any shirt that "looks cool" as opposed to "has a unicorn on it or is ridiculously awesome". At just over 100 t-shirts, there's a lot more growing my collection could do.

Have I forgotten you already!?
Wow. So much for keeping up with this blogging thing! My inner ramblings have been taking place over at my other journal (http://chemistryisrad.livejournal.com/). I've also been keeping a few people updated with that thing called microblogging over here: http://twitter.com/bashleigh. Check it out, follow me, whatever.
Things are good. I'm going to the dentist today (for the first time in two and a half years) and it's probably going to suck.
I'm off to a safety meeting but I promise I'll keep this thing in better shape!
